Answers to what people usually ask

22 questions about pricing, features, switching over and support. Not listed? Call — you get the person who builds it.

General

What kind of businesses is 10Key made for?
Restaurants, cafés, snack bars and takeaways on one side, and supermarkets, corner shops and speciality stores on the other. You pick your type of business when you sign up; features you do not use never appear on your screen.
Is 10Key suitable for a café?
Yes. A café uses the same restaurant package: keeping track of tables, adding rounds, ringing up quickly at the bar and sending tickets to the right printer. There is no separate café package, so nothing extra to pay.
Do I need special hardware?
No. 10Key runs on any Windows PC, tablet or simply in the browser. If you have nothing yet, you can buy a ready-to-use touchscreen with customer display for € 850 one-off or rent it for € 75 per month.
Which languages is the system available in?
The till and the back office are in Dutch. Support is available in Dutch and English.

Pricing and contract

Do I pay per till or per location?
Per location, with unlimited users inside that location at no extra cost. With multiple locations you pay half the software price from the second one onwards; hardware costs the same everywhere.
What does 10Key cost per month?
The supermarket package starts at € 45 and the restaurant package at € 49 per location per month, excluding VAT. Modules are optional. All modules together cost € 20 for restaurants (instead of € 25) and € 10 for supermarkets (instead of € 15).
Are there setup fees?
No. Configuring your products, categories, VAT rates and printers is included.
Can I cancel monthly?
The software subscription is cancellable monthly. If you rent hardware from us, that carries a minimum term of 12 months. If you buy the hardware, you are tied to nothing.
Can I add or drop modules later?
Yes, month by month. Switch one on and it appears on your next invoice; drop it and it ends with the current month.

Hospitality

Can I take orders at the table?
10Key runs in the browser, so you take orders on a tablet or phone and the ticket lands in the kitchen straight away. No separate handhelds required.
Can I split a bill?
Yes, a table can be split per guest or per item and the parts paid separately.
How does delivery work without an ordering platform?
The delivery module (€ 10 per month) includes an ordering page on your own domain. Orders land directly in your till with an audible alert, and your customer gets an automatic SMS or WhatsApp once the food is on its way. There is no commission per order.

Supermarket and shop

Which scales are supported?
Price-embedded barcodes from Bizerba, Mettler Toledo, Avery Berkel, CAS/Digi and GS1 are recognised without programming. You set the format per store and a test tool lets you check a barcode.
Can a scale be wired directly to the till?
Working with printed scale barcodes is available today. A direct connection over serial, USB or the network is in development — let us know which model you have.
How many products can I hold?
There is no limit. Ranges with tens of thousands of items stay quick to search.

Switching over

Can I bring my products from my current till?
Yes. We import your product file from Excel or CSV, including straight from Loyverse and most other POS systems. Column names are matched automatically, prices with a comma or a full stop both read correctly, and duplicates are filtered out.
How long until I am running?
Usually within a week of the demo. We prepare your products, categories, VAT rates and printers; you check them and decide when to go live.
Does someone watch on my first day?
Yes. On the day you go live we watch remotely, so small things get fixed the same day rather than over a three-day email thread.

Technology, data and support

Does the till work when the internet goes down?
Yes. It keeps running locally and syncs automatically once the connection is back, so you lose no receipts. Note that card payments run over your payment terminal and need their own connection.
Where is my data stored?
On servers in Europe, with daily backups. Your data stays yours and you can export it whenever you want.
How does support work?
There is a support button in the till. Press it and we get a notification with your business name and can look over your shoulder remotely. We are also reachable by phone and email.
Does support cost extra?
No, support and updates are included in every package.

Question not listed?

Call or email. Also fine if you are still just looking around.

Rather just see how it works?

Twenty minutes, with your own products in the system. That is usually enough.
